A Spiritual Baptist elder
seems to have the magic bullet (excuse the pun) to curb the rise of crime in
Trinidad and Tobago. Speaking to Spiritual Baptist Online News Magazine,
Lady Elect Monica Randoo, has described crime as a plague and together with
her congregation is using the gospel as their weapon in this major fight.
Elect Lady Randoo, also
known as Arch-bishop Monica Randoo, is the Spiritual head of Judah Spiritual
Baptist Church located at Waterhole, Cocorite, Trinidad.
She explained, “We (the
organization) look at crime in a holistic way. We find basis for that when
we look at the Gospel. Jesus was at the same platform. Crime is a plague
disguised. We always have a two-pronged attack on what we are doing.”
Adding that the holistic
method towards fighting crime have been a success Elect Lady Randoo said, “
We have seen great evidence where men have been able to break free with the
method our counselors practice.”
Describing her church as
one which stands militant on the gospel of Jesus Christ, Elect Lady Monica
Randoo explained that part of the two pronged approach her congregation uses
in the fight against crime is the introduction of the word of God to the
unconverted and those who have led a life of crime. This she said can be
described as a meaningful way to focus on the socio-economic side of life.
Arch-bishop Randoo added
that it is her belief that Jesus Christ was interested in the socio and
spiritual growth of the individual. She said that crime as it relates to the
preaching of the gospel and finding a solution should be among present
agenda of those in authority and we should never leave the gospel out of the
issues that are facing us.
