The Spiritual Baptist community mourns the passing of Bishop Sylvia Hunte also known as ‘Mother Hunte’ and ‘Mother Sylvia’. The Spiritual Baptist elder was head of ‘Good Shepherd Spiritual Baptist Church’ located at 2050 Nostrand Avenue, Brooklyn.

Bishop Hunte died last Wednesday 22^nd (November) at Brooklyn’s Beth Israel Hospital. She was 81 years old. The Spiritual Baptist Online News Magazine learned that prayer services have been held every night at ‘Good Shepherd Spiritual Baptist Church’ since the Bishop’s death. The service will continue tomorrow (Tuesday) from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. A viewing for the deceased will be held on Wednesday 29^th (November) from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. at F. J. Barone Funeral Home located at 4502 Avenue D between E. 45^th  and E. 46^th Streets.

The Spiritual Baptist Online News Magazine also learned that Bishop Hunte was affiliated with St. Peter’s Spiritual Baptist Church located in Gonsales, Port of Spain, Trinidad.
